Onigiri Sensei

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2025

Short version: Onigiri Sensei does not collect personal information. Your learning progress, settings, and nickname stay on your device. We use standard third-party services (Firebase, AdMob) for analytics, crash reporting, and advertising.

1. Who We Are

Onigiri Sensei is developed and operated by NiteBunny Inc. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.

If you have any questions, contact us at hello@onigirisensei.app.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

All of the above is stored locally on your device using an encrypted local storage library and is fully under your control. Deleting the app removes all of it.

3. Information Collected by Third-Party Services

We integrate third-party services that may collect certain information automatically. We do not have direct access to raw device identifiers — this data is processed by each provider under their own privacy policies.

Firebase Analytics

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app. This service collects:

We do not send your nickname or any personally identifiable information to Firebase Analytics. Events include only gameplay data (e.g., number of correct answers, deck IDs).

Firebase Crashlytics

Crashlytics collects crash reports when the app unexpectedly closes. Reports include stack traces and device state at the time of the crash (OS version, device model, memory state). No personal information is included in crash reports.

Google AdMob

We display ads through Google AdMob to support the free version of the app. AdMob may collect:

On iOS, we request permission to use your advertising identifier via Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. You may decline, and the app will still work — you will simply see non-personalized ads.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. A record of which decks you have purchased is kept locally on your device.

4. Feedback

The app includes an optional feedback form. If you choose to submit feedback, the text you enter is sent to a Google Firebase Firestore database. No name, email, or account information is attached — feedback is completely anonymous. We use it only to improve the app.

5. Children's Privacy

Onigiri Sensei is a Japanese language learning app suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app does not require registration or any personal data to function, it is safe for use by children.

Please note that Google AdMob may serve ads to all users. Parents who prefer an ad-free experience can unlock content through in-app purchase.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted information through the feedback form, please contact us at hello@onigirisensei.app and we will delete it promptly.

6. Data Retention

Anonymous analytics and crash report data is retained by Firebase according to Google's standard retention policies. Anonymous feedback submitted via the in-app form is automatically deleted after 12 months.

All local device data (nickname, progress, settings) is deleted when you uninstall the app.

7. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal information tied to your identity, there is no profile for us to look up, export, or delete. You can:

If you are in the EU/EEA and have specific GDPR requests, contact us at hello@onigirisensei.app.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
